Colours.

-The workload has calmed down here at work, so I have a little more time to post some blogs. Both travel guide and Oklahoma Today should be out of hair this week. That's quite a load off. We have some smaller jobs to take care of this month, but for the most part, it's going to be a slow month. Nothing wrong with that.

-Christmas is creeping up on us, and I still have a couple people to finish shopping for. That will be nice to get out of the way as well. Mike and I went out last night to try to find some stuff. It was somewhat successful, but the highlight of the evening was making my awesome purchase of Neverending Story. My classic 80s movie collection is slowly growing. I pretty sure I'm adding Crossroads to 'to buy' list as well. I think I need to watch that Steve Vai clip again. I need to get to the point where I can guitar battle someone. That would be awesome.....Not sure why anyone would need a triple neck guitar either. That's just plain ridiculous.

-Speaking of guitar battles. Shannon and I nerded it out last night and played some guitar hero. Finally beat that stupid queens of the stone age song on hard. I can't figure out why I like that game. it's nothing like playing guitar. and if only playing Tom Morello's guitar parts was that easy. If guitar hero isn't your thing, maybe you should try, Accordian Hero.

-9 most racist disney characters. kind of an interesting read.

-Floppy disk cd-rs.

-Mom, want a mini donut maker for christmas? Looks pretty good. Now I'm hungry for some donuts.

-On the sidenote, Helvetica nevered happened last week, so if anyone wants a viewing, let me know. We had some electrical issues at our house, and ended up spending the evening, waiting for the electrician to leave. Plus no one came by, so we just decided to watch it at a later time. Mike's Sigur Ros dvd is in the mail right now, well, being shipped right now, so that will happen pretty soon.

Then and Now.

-Reed, the bassist for the late Subseven has recently passed away. Although I didn't really know the man, I know friends of his and saw Subseven several times. My condolences to his family and friends. A better entry and description can be found on Clint's blog.

-A small entry, with some designer links.

-1956 introduction on NBC of the Eames Lounge chair. Part One & Two. I want one. so bad.

-I also want one of these typographic Calendars by Pentagram availabe at kenknight. It features a different font every month. I also wouldn't mind having the Massimo Vignelli one either.

-Speaking of Pentagram, the pimps of design. check out this new video by Hillman Curtis. Great stuff.

-Nice corporate catalog.

-A couple non design related links: Stars Wars Mimobots are coming. and Life size Elmo in everyday activity. and 19th century mustaches.

-Also. we will be watching Helvetica this weekend:

Helvetica 3

-and I forgot to mention this with my last post. I was at home, and trying to send files to my mom's laptop running Vista. oh my goodness. Vista has to be the most frustrating OS ever. I couldn't even get past unzipping a folder. The five mins I spent with it, made me flustered and want to throw the computer out the window.

Post Thanksgiving Update.

-The break has been nice. a couple days off of work, and time to just sit around. I went to Altus for a couple days, ate Turkey with the family. Wasn't too exciting with just the five of us. Watched some Creature Comforts, played some Scrabble (and reclaimed my Scrabble title), and helped my dad build a fence in the backyard. That's about all the highlights. I apologize to anyone that was in town and didn't call. For one, I don't have everyone's number. and Two, it goes both ways-no one called me. Came back to the city Friday night. Yesterday was spent shopping around OKC, eating some steak with Shannon and Emily, and just hanging out. Today was....lazy day. I didn't even go outside. That sounds pretty lame. and kind of is. Hope everyone else's break was good...

-Don't have any links this time around. I haven't really made the internet rounds the last few days, plus there hasn't been much updating due to the holidays. all I have is this video from Emily: Chris recites T-Pain. I'm gonna buy you a draaaaaaaaaank.

-A bit of a rant. I just wanted to pose a question. slash, complain. How does one meet new friends (particularly women) if you Don't party, go clubbing, drink, smoke, go to school, go to church, and well, participate in any sort of social activity? Especially when work involves you and your 50 year old boss, and home life is just me and my brother, who socializes as much as I do. How. How. My social life is pathetic.

-I somehow feel the emotional bomb ticking...I'm just not able to figure out what I'm going to be doing in a few years. Been bothering me lately. Not sure when/how/where to go. what to do with myself. I don't know. It's like you go to high school, and you have a plan to go to college. then college, you want to graduate, get a real job. then what?

Monarchs

-Going to try to make a post before everyone leaves for Thanksgiving. Even though, I bet everyone is already gone. Mike and I both have work tomorrow, so we won't be heading out til tomorrow evening. Not sure if we are taking off early tomorrow or not. Blogger is being a jerk and somehow deleting part of my entries...this upsets me...anyways, here's what's left of the links...maybe that'll tie you over for a day or two....

-Strange Wilderness. The cast alone seems promising enough for a comedy. I have to admit, I've seen the trailer like 3 times, mostly to watch the last 20 seconds over again. I can't stop laughing at that. Look at those teeth!

-Tetris skits from animated shows.

-This has been floating around the blogs lately....I can't grow a beard, so maybe I should get one of these: Beard caps.

-Martial Arts Auditions. A bit of an old clip. I remember seeing that kid slamming his face doing a backflip years ago. quite funny clip.

-Cloverfield Trailer. blah blah blah. I think I'm going to go with Shannon and say it's going to Rampage the movie. Almost seems like a better story than what's going on. hah. Even after a closer look, still can't tell what it is, but I'm guessing its the giant lizard from rampage. After the first 20 mins of people saying, 'whats going on?!' a giant gorilla and werewolf are going to pop out and take turns punching buildings and eating turkeys out of them.

-For those that never took Art History: Why the Mona Lisa is so famous. Leonardo was the man.

-Newstoday is now offically QBN. Still adjusting to the new layout, but it's a lot easier to read the public feed. thats for sure. Upgrade.

-Need some inspiration on your next flyer/poster? Try Posterwhore....and/or you can pimp out your work.

-Rocket Science is playing at the OKC MOA next weekend. Mike and I might go. It's still up in the air. anyone interested?

-R-rated Dewey Cox trailer.... This movie looks ridiculously retarded. With that being said, I'll probably go see it. Judd Apatow hasn't let me down yet.

-A little run down of campaign logos, courtesy of the NY Times.

-What's emo? Learn about it in one minute.

State of.

-Started this post a couple days ago. Just a few random videos:

-Car Football. I mean soccer. This looks fun, as in, I want to do it.

-Video games that should be movies. This was an interesting idea/list. Who's up for Tetris the movie? I sure am.....

-Gamer Pillow.

-Japanese Fanta Commercials. Those crazy asians.

-Alright..This is my find of the week (the cake video). Nintendo DS Jam Sessions Commercials. A bit of a warning. The second contains language not suitable for young children and parental advisory is recommended (the f bomb).
--Aunty.
--Cake.

-William Spencer/neat skate video, check it out shannon. Combines some old school tricks with some new school. Pretty fun to watch.

-VW Cuckoo Clock. This contains language as well...

-And also, Puma relaunched the Mongolian BBQ (thanks mike), but with the Basket style shoe, and what I think is a much easier format. In case you don't know, the Mongolian BBQ is just Puma's site for making your own custom shoe. I made a couple (see flickr). Not sure I'll throw down the money for it, but it's still pretty snazzy. It also reminded me that I never took a picture of my awesome high tops I purchased off ebay last month.

Somewhat Insightful.

-Another Wednesday has rolled around. Work is officially busy. Steve was out 3 days and still recovering, so I've been doing the majority of the OK Today work, including photographing babies and interns, and do layouts. fun. It's actually been real nice being busy, just a bit scared I won't get some stuff done in time, especially when it needs to be done by the 26th and Thanksgiving it next week, so cuts into our work days.
-Other than work, things been real slow, especially the social life. Shannon has been entertaining the both of us. On the sidenote, we beat Medium co-op on GH3 a few days ago. that was the highlight of the week probably. Here are some links for you to enjoy. I've been just collecting them and waiting for a time that I can just sit down and make a post.

-Macs are cheaper than PCs.

-Buy this bag.

-Robot guitar. Technology is crazy.

-Neat Quilt. I want it for some reason.

-Nifty Guiness Ad.

-I think people need to start using these: cellphone booths.

-Mike pointed these out to me a couple weeks ago. I believe from Metropolis. I could be wrong though. But these are very nicely designed fire extinquishers. Form, function, and aesthetically pleasing.

-Crazy Blind Date. If they had Oklahoma City, I probably would have joined Mike up. haha.

-I need to get one of these vacuums.

-Wonderbra spoofs the Cadbury ad. I think I like this version better.

-Chocolate for your type lover. Too bad I don't know German. Supposively you can make a custom order with the letters you want.

-Wedgie proof underwear. I probably could have used these about 12 years ago. Thanks mike.....

-Sleep Profiler. I scored a 60%. Not sure how that happened. But it told me that maybe intaking some caffeine might help me in the afternoons if I feel tired. and exercising, but not before I go to sleep. So basically didn't tell me anything new. still kind of fun.

A Mid Week Review.

-Tomorrow is the downhill part of the week. or so it's supposed to be. I have a lot to get done at work and such, and for some reason it seems to be a bit more nerve wrecking without Steve around today and tomorrow. This week has been alright though. It's been quite stale at the Lee house the last few days though. Mike has been trying to knock out this illustration for OK Today, which I believe he'll have done tomorrow. I'm sure that'll relieve some stress there. Yesterday's highlights include: unlocking Bloc Party-Helicopter w/Shannon on Guitar Hero 3, eating burnt steak. Today was killing me considering I just sat there for like a hour trying to figure out what to do with myself. Althought playing Ny Batteri with Mike was quite fun. I figured the notes out yesterday and I looped the bass part and such.
-I had a whole other paragraph typed out and somehow blogger screwed up and deleted it when I was trying to put in a link. and I'm severely pissed about it.It was mostly dealing my my inability to interact with others. and me being socially retarded. I guess I'll try again tomorrow. I've just really frustrated with my social situation and sitting around the house isn't helping....

-On the bright side of things....here are a few select links I have collected the last couple days. I know you want them.

-Worst Typefaces of all time. Do you concur? I concur.

-Guy with incredible brain....I haven't finished it yet. about 15 mins left. stupid google video was messing up.

-The Superest. Some fun and interesting cartoons.

-Spam One Liners. This one has been floating on a few blogs I visit, plus Lindsay sent it to me.

-How to deal with those Bluetooth people. Every time I see a Curb Your Enthusiasm clip, I always wonder why I don't watch this show more often.

-This is my new favorite site. Maybe I need to make myself a site like this....only we don't have a subway...and I haven't seen the girls of my dreams yet....Oh wow. He found her. that's exciting.

-Moral of Nursery Rhymes. Ricky Gervais.

-Some nice typographic work.

-Dear Hunter Video.

-Rockwell Pic. I want one. and for those behind in the GD world. Rockwell is a font.....and a sidenote of that. I realized that block serifs are the new sans serifs. be on the lookout lookout.

He finished his portion. then 2 weeks later I finished mine. and then for some reason, it's taken a couple more weeks for me to gather some things up and uploaded. I thought I was indecisive, now I'm not so sure.

-It's been a bit slow at work the last couple days. Just the calm before the storm. I know I have to finish this annual report by next Tuesday and Oklahoma Today starts next week. I'm not stressing though, it's nice when there's things going at work. Keeps me busy, days go by quicker, etc and etc.
-I'm lacking in links lately. Just nothing seems to be sparking my interest online. On the subject of halloween costumes. I think I deem Maggie and her fiance, Mark's costume on the top list, with full on Nacho Libre (sorry, photos only available on facebook), in which he crafted the costume himself, minus the mask. But for online costumes,I think the winners are going to Bioshock and Where the Wild Things Are.
-On the sidenote, I've been looking for this font: 58 Rodeo. If anyone has it, let me know.
-In fall TV review. I find myself being much involved in my TV viewing lately, so I thought I would share what I've been watching. of course The Office. but who isn't these days. I would also recommend these:
-Kid Nation. I'm not a big reality tv fan, but something about this show is quite entertaining. and I want to punch that girl taylor in the face.
-Pushing Daisies. I had found a preair download online a couple months ago. Watched it and never watched anymore until this past week. After watching a few more, I've concluded that it's a good show. I recommend at least a watch. It's a bit different than most shows on tv. It's like a mix between Big Fish, Walgreens Commercials and something else. I can't put my finger on it. The story is enjoyable, as well as some of shots (zooming it and out), and the narration is right on. The only thing that bothers me is the stupid show logo, and the blonde girl when she tries to sing (she's from OK, go figure).
-The IT Crowd. From the UK. Quite entertaining/funny.

-The stuff you find on the internets.
-Airbrush prank on Foose.
-World Race-Walking Champ Attacked By Samurai -- Will He Run?
-and just because it's friday. you need this.

Bees Bein' Stugglin'

-The show was good last night. Was a bit disappointed that it was just me and Mike...like it usually is. But better than going by myself. Busdriver was actually pretty fun to watch, and his DJs actually played instruments (guitar/keyboard/etc) instead of just playing records..Octopus Project was great once again. This time their projector was working which made the show fun. I recorded a few clips with my camera, but the audio is pretty much shot. I might upload them anyways, just so you can see the fun-ness of their show...Never been to a show on Halloween..Kind of fun to see people dress up, which brings me to the top ten list of the show. Jenn and I started doing top ten lists. She's not here anymore, but I think it's a fun thing to do.
Top Halloween Costumes at the show:
1. Where's Waldo-I think last time Jenn and I saw a guy that looked like where's waldo. This girl was dressed like him...or his g/f. whatever.
2. Munchkins from Wizard of OZ-apparently this pair of munchkins, complete with fake lollipops won the viewer choice award that night in which when it was announced, they were described as the "slutty munchkin twins." Hilarious.
3. Robot-Just a robot. Won the costume contest.
4. Headless Bartender-I though it was cleverly done.
5. Pirates-OK, most of the pirate costumes were pretty awful. Mike mentioned something about a guy at work saying how, if you're a guy, don't be a pirate for halloween because it means you're gay. After telling me this, we saw like 4 pirates. Funny.
6. Pulp Fiction characters-Mike caught this one. Good idea, but hard to get at first.
7. Groucho Marx-Pretty classic, I suppose.
8. Cat Girls-Ok, this is the second worst costume ever. Cat ears and make up on the face. Lame.
9. Clockwork Orange-This guy was behind me in line. Decked out in perfect clockwork orange gear. complete with jock strap....Kind of creepy.
10. Cheetara-This wins the award for the worst costume ever, because it wasn't really cheetara. it was a crazy white chick wearing leopard print everything and a headband. like cheetara meets pocahontas on crack.
-There was other various costumes spotted, but nothing too memorable. apparently, due to the fact that I can't remember them right now.

-Office night tonight. I'm afraid it will just be me, mike and emily, but anyone else is welcome.
-Video of the day: Make My Logo Bigger Creme
