Scallops, Scones and Dogs that Won't Shut Up

It's been quite a busy week for me, busy in a good way. I've been trying to gather up what all to write about. Let's see, first, played my first indoor soccer game Saturday. Mike and I are playing on a league for his work. It is much more fast paced than anticipated. After five mins of sprinting, I couldnt' breathe. Luckily we had subs. Somehow we managed a victory for the team 11-10, with only 24 seconds left. I'm not sure how we did it honestly. Something to do with us scoring more girl goals, which count as too. Oh yeah, it's a coed team, 3 girls, 3 guys. I didn't explain that very well. I'm sure we'll get better as the season moves along. Not bad for playing with people I've never even met before.

In review of my What to Shave piece, the results were scattered. I got two D's, a C+F, two H's, and a B. With that being said, I haven't shaved. and not sure what I'll do. I appreciate all that participated and keep you posted if and when I shave anything. Would be a little better if my facial hair came in as well as I illustrated, wouldn't it?

Managed to watch Fully Flared, this weekend, thanks to Shannon. It's been years since I've watched a skate video, but I was most impressed. The level of skateboarding has like quadrupled since I had seen a skate video. It's insane. So last night, Shannon, Steven and me skated downtown. The weather was great, and it was fun to be back on the board again, minus my inabilities to do any tricks.

I N T E R M I S S I O N L I N K S:

-Porter Wallmug. Ingenius. Use it as a cup. bowl, etc. includes a folding spoon.
-This is how I get exercise at work
-Schweppes "Burst." Fun commercial, makes me want to get a high speed camera even more.

Links via cpluv:
-Newer SF IV Trailer with Chun Li & C Viper
-Photoshop Disasters
-10 Horrible, Awesome Local Commercials. I want to 18002sellhomes on there or Sherlock loans, man I need a tivo.

Music
-Couple new tracks from Pivot
-Watch some live Nada Surf
-New Frontiers on Daytrotter
-I was going to make a post a week or two ago, regarding my thoughts on the ever growing popularity (and over-ratedness) of Feist, but never got around to it. I still dont' understand why Everyone loves her music. Broken Social Scene's music is tons better, Kevin Drew's album, I thought was even better. OH, thats right, it's because she's a female artist. Well, explain to me, why no one has heard of Kaki King. She apparently could put Feist away in a guitar battle. She's like the Female Justin King. Anyways, I would suggest checking her out. I don't get super psyched about female artists. But her guitar skills are great. and her new video is pretty fun. This one is nice as well.

Too Cute for Chris
-Dancing Walrus
-Dog vs. Balloons

A Few Movie Notes
-Can't say I've ever seen a bad Edward Norton movie. I somehow feel like maybe I should avoid the new Hulk movie. anyways, The trailer is online now.
-Charlize Theron is planning on remaking Park Chan-wook's Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Please don't. Please don't ruin any of those movies (of the Vengeance Trilogy). For those that have no idea what I'm talking about, go rent them.
-I watched Manufactured Landscapes recently, and I would recommend a viewing, especially those into photography (Jenn. Shannon.)

E N D O F I N T E R M I S S I O N

Regarding my title, I recently tried out some Scallops and Scones for the first. Uh, Scallops are gross. Never again. Scones are ok, not sure how to describe it. Not bad. and The Dogs? Well, you see, the neighbors have a couple of dogs and every day about 8-8:30am, they put them in the backyard. So I wake up to my alarm, immediantly following a continous stream of barking. The only good thing is, the barking is so incessant, that it becomes just a noise more than barking. Either way, it's not how I like to wake up.

So yes, it's been pretty good on my side of things, Mike and I are finally working on a new song, after our two month hiatus, and planning on playing another little show in Altus. Maybe we'll eventually make it to the minor leagues and play a show in OKC (hopefully). No guarantees with that on. The weather has been too nice. I've been riding my bike to work (after lunch). which has been enjoyable. Minus my fall today. Not sure how it happened, but something about trying to put my ipod back in my pocket and hitting my brake too fast, and falling on the street. Not good. It didn't bother me so much falling, more so, about the SUV that apparently saw me fall, then drove off. Jerks. No injuries though.

ALSO, I received an email from Amy yesterday morning, saying that Stefan Sagmeister was doing a lecture at OU/Fred Jones Museum at 3:30. Luckily, I have the best boss, and let me get off for it. Overall, it was a great lecture, and it made my day/week. I'm not sure where to begin on what he discussed, but it made me rethink a few things on my own design work and how I come up with ideas, and where I need to go with my design work. I know most of you out there have no idea who he is, but he quite big in the design world. You can check out this website here. and a site promoting his new book, which I still need to get my hands on (birthday gift anyone, anyone?) Sorry you missed out Jacob. 1. OU's parking is ridiculous (we got lucky with our parking) 2. The lecture hall was totally not sufficient for the status of Sagmeister, and 3. I got there like 45 mins early. and glad I did.

And on top of everything, Oklahoma Today is back in action, so we're in catch up mode at work and trying to get everything going for OK Today. Busy Busy.
