In Knots and Unconcentrated Thoughts

The past week has been quite an emotional and mental overflow, and overwhelmed me. The main issues at hand:

1. Q. the zine in process, and soon to be finished. There seems to be quite an overflow of thoughts and ideas regarding the actual marketing of this product/idea. and right now, I realized, I need to just focus on the end production of Issue One. I have just all these ideas and plans for them, but I can't seem to funnel everything down to what I want happen. I also need to discuss future plans with Amy, and decide what to do with certain aspects of it. But Issue One will be completed and will happen. I just need to take it one step at a time.

2. Moving. The Great Debate. Nothing new in the department, and if you know, something that has come up, probably every few months, between friends and/or family. Well, it seems like it's coming down to actually happening this time. and with the announcement of Mike's departure, I feel the need to make a commitment. and My fear has overcame me, with leaving my little comfort zone. So I've been back and forth the last week or so about what needs to happen. and What I need to do for myself. I still haven't come to the conclusion, but I'm glad to see my friends and family looking out for me, and supporting me either way. Steve did bring up a good point the other day, about going out and experiencing things while you can, and before you get your roots too far in. So that's been weighing heavy on me, I just need to get my crap together and organize my thoughts and get a plan rolling. I think deciding to leave would make it much easier than staying on the fence for two months. So sorry Mike for my indecisiveness. A decision will be made.

3. Girls. Another one of those constant battles. I've been half seeing, not seeing someone. and well, we basically came to the conclusion to cut things off. So that's been a bit of a struggle for me. It was nice having someone else around, to do things with, hang out and not worry about things....but I guess I have to just get over it. But yeah, that's been a bit of an emotional struggle, trying to be comfortable with the idea of being single for longer. oh brother.

With all that being said, I've been also been thinking about what else I need to consider if I move: how to reorganize my portfolio, making sure going out of my work transitions ok, making sure I have enough money to actually move, making sure I have enough money to pay my ridiculous amount of bills (stupid loans!), trying to find a new job, how it will be working for someplace else, the possibility of working a crappy job just for moneys, if I'll even like the new location, and so forth...

On the sidenote: The new Coldplay song is weak. Lymbyc Systym Remixes are brilliant. Oh, I will have a Summer Movie Preview up soon. maybe by the end of the week. and links.

Forget All Your Politics For a While

Pretty eventful weekend. Went out shooting yesterday with Emily and Mike. I put some new photos up on flickr, finally. and will be putting a few more up tomorrow or Wednesday. Mostly signs and textures. For some reason, got a lot of rusted doors. I feel like I should have something meaningful to put on here. I've been going through a lot in my head, but I don't feel like any of it has been resolved whatsoever. and trying to figure out what I need to do to make things happen-in so many areas of my life. I'll have to try to elaborate on that sometime.....

Here's some leftover linkage I keep forgetting to post:
-Star Wars Urban Photography
-Vintage Paperbacks
-Throwing your baby in the dumpster is wrong
-Bad Breath Checker. Leave it to the Japanese...
-Lurkers Lurking. A bit NSFW.
-Some Nice Office Interiors
-Time lapse of a man stuck on an elevator for 41 hours. and the article attached to it.
-He's Dead. He's Dead Jim.
-Mandy and Lester. A short film about responsibility. I like the way this was shot.
-Mortal Kombat vs. DC Comics video game coming soon. Will never be able to top Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.
-Why the Green Lantern Sucks. Not sure why, but it's funny. 3 second clip of the green lantern getting hit with a bird....
-Mates of State new Video for "Get Better." and I have no idea what's going on. But the song is nice, and the album is probably going to be a promising summer album. We'll see.
-Creature Comforts USA: What Do You Consider Art? I love Creature Comforts and was bummed it was cut. but the clip is great.

And So The Week Begins...

Monday is here again. I'm off to a better week thus far. Still trying to work out some projects and revive my creative abilities. They've been quite stagnant the past however many months. and I feel I need to get back in the game.

-Shepard Fairley Book Covers for Animal Farm and 1984. This was just about every blog I read today. But I must admit, they are quite well executed.
-Sony Foam City. and well, that one too. Fun commercial.
-Names that Forge a Bond on the Internet. I wish I had that. All I get is this lame guy. or him (WTF? Island Music for Every Occasion?!) Althought I can't leave out the only cool Christopher Lee.
-Where's Waldo? Google Map style. AWE-some.
-Fontgame. I messed up a bit when I took it. 27/34 first time and perfect 34/34 the second. I'll be looking forward to the second round.
-Creative Barcodes
-Ran into this site today, which I'm digging: LogoDesignLove
-Fail Blog. Pure Internet Awesomeness.

Movie Tidbits
-I read about this movie recently, American Teen, and they put up a trailer. Looks like it'll be an interesting watch.
-The Unforeseen. I noticed this was playing at the OKCMOA this weekend, and was curious what it was about. I'm still slightly unclear, but from the trailer's production, it seems like an interesting watch as well. (and sigur ros in the trailer, when has that ever been a bad thing?)
-The Fall. I saw this trailer a while back...The HD version is up. and I'm a bit excited to see it. The visuals and colors seem to be spot on. We'll see if Mr. Lee Pace (from Chickasha) can deliver...

Friday Muxtape

I kind of had an emotional bump in the road earlier this week. No worries though, I just kind of figured I wouldn't feel like updating for a few days. Aaaaaaaaand this week has been longer than it needs to be. On the sidenote, I had too much caffeine tonight, including a giant liter-a-cola of dr. pepper from Schlotzky's (the worker hooked us up and gave us the huge large), and then later, had a coffee over at the Bucks (Thanks Shannon). So needless to say, it's 2 in the morning and I'm wide awake. But tomorrow is Friday, so I'll think I'll be ok.

I've been trying to line up a few projects I've been talking about for a long time. and it's just come to that point where I'm really tired of just talking about. Anyways, look for updates regarding Q (zine), Avantcore (project with Mike and Clint), which also might include various small projects (possibilities of small editions of shirts and/or buttons). Things are starting to warm up, but we'll see how it all pans out. I feel like I haven't really sat down in a long while to just sit and create something for myself, or from myself. Work has been a bit distant, as far as me actually getting excited about the work. So I'm really hoping involving myself with other collaborative projects, it will help get it all out.

Linkage:
-Must Have Grudge Fonts. Yeah, I had most of these already. and not all of them are free. bummer.
-Geekiest Legos/Rubiks Cubes. Via Mike
-Get Helvetica Off Our Money. Yes, I too think it's a bit hilarious that we have a Swiss Typeface on American Money......
-Beard Font!
-Dyslexflix. Hilarious Wrong Movie Recommending Guide
-Tape Tape Dispenser. Yes, please.
-Nice House
-Top 50 Soccer Goals
-Fancy Schmancy Foosball Table

I've been trying to come up with some ideas to spruce up my new office. Here's a couple items that I came across:
-Knife Coat Hooks (not really available to the US, but still cool)
-Lego Calendar Clock

-The Super Analysis of Star Trek & the Red Shirts. I was unaware of the 'red shirt' things until about a year or so ago. When someone came into my work and asked if I was a red shirt and Amy was like "No, he's not, he's good." and I had to ask what it was.....so yeah, red shirt=you die, well, metaphorically.....

I made frequent visits to the Bucks now, not because I'm in love with their coffee, but more to visit friends. and well, to get out of the house. They recently have revamped their store to their old logo. I've had small discussions about it, nothing serious. But I think I've come to the conclusion it's a downgrade. As much as it might seem cool to do a throwback (like major league teams), but it always seems like a stepback. Like it's not really Helping them at all. and the old mermaid-ish thing, looks more like an old fat drunk guy with moobs (Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh) holding giant shrimp. Because when I think good tasting coffee, thats what I think of.

And last, but not least, I finally uploaded a Muxtape. Feel free to send me a link to yours. I found it a bit frustrating realizing that half of the songs I had were over the alloted size (10mb), so I had to resave some songs. Which was more annoying than it should have been. But there's a quick mix. I was trying to include some songs I have ran into, that I doubt others had and might...or might not like. Anyways, enjoy.

Skinny Love

Glad we're going downhill on the week. I've been just been struggling getting motivated this week. Other than work, things are going pretty good though. No complaints this week. and pretty psyched about my new shoes I got in the mail today (see below). Pretty sweet.

Just design links today:
-Fontstuct: Build, Share, Download fonts. neat concept; I have yet to try it out though...
-Ford Redesign. April Fool's Joke from Brand New, and I have to admit, it got me at first....dang yous internet.
-USSR Posters. I love it when people spend the time to gather together some good collections.
-It's all in the hat
-Estupido. An article regarding a font that should have never been used. Pretty humerous...well, for us, type lovers.
-The Royal Mint New Designs. and a comparison with our new five dollar bill. I totally despise the design of American money.
-Jacob sent this over to me today (Thanks). Hillman Curtis's Sagmeister Short

And the new shoes:
Puma Rookie Suede

Oh, ok, here's a fun one for you guys....Super Enthusiastic Drummer. and yes, that's how Mike plays the drums.
