In the Business of Websites

Been a bit of an obligation to update the blog, amoungst other things. It somehow feels like the motivation has just been drained from me. I think it's something to do with this heat too, just kind of seems to suck the energy out of me. Still trying to tweak my site, going to be adding some more work up, and hopefully have a lightbox feature. and also going to have qcollaborative.com up shortly. Might be stretching myself a little thin with things to do/accomplish.

I've been a bit sad that I've been missing on the Euro Cup games on tv with my lack of cable, although I did catch the end of the Netherlands/Russia game on Saturday. But I have been noticing quite a bit of coverage of Soccer, so that's been fun. Anyways, heres a few soccer vids.
-The Sneakiest Goal
-Not sure how to describe this one, it's like that basketball video where the kid bounced the ball off the roof, but with a soccer and ten times better. Basically, a guy making everyday objects soccer goals. With cunning accuracy.
-Nike: Taking it to the Next Level

Onto other stuff:
-DIY Guitar Pics. I doubt these work real well.
-How the Brain Works Illusions. What ever happened to Bill Nye?
-Creative Photos. Via Jake
-Someone got a little too deep with Mario
-Poster Boy's Flickr. Basically remix/collage different posters/ads, some are pretty funny, like Iraqwives or The Crapening for starters.

-Country Logos. I still like the Bahamas one for some reason.
-Dyson working on greener car. If anyone can, Dyson can. The man is a genius, I'm still waiting to see these things in bathrooms.
-ilovedesign. I'm enjoying some of the content on this site, mostly the David Carson & Chip Kidd videos. Only bummer, is that you have to be a member to watch them.
-Last, but most certainly not least. Blik Nintendo Wall Graphics. What! I'm pretty sure I need some.

The Ever Growing Week

What can I say, another long week-at work and at home. It seems the workload keeps piling on itself. I'm doing my best to try to get things down, but theres always five more things to do. I've been in a bit of a motivational rut of sorts, and trying to climb myself out of it, so I can righfully prepare myself for the journeys ahead. That being, a new job and living in a new environment.

In other news, Q is on its way, check back to qcollaborative.com here shortly for updates, news, and explanations of what's been going on. It's been a slow process, very slow, but it's on the verge of launching. Soon. Very Soon.

Happy Friday.
-Top 10 Rube Goldberg's in Film
-Mr. Potato Mash
-Javascript Mariokart
-Tribeca Film Festival, Film Junkie. Pretty funny, the other spots are pretty good, but this is the better of them all.

-Raymond Loewy's Sketchs for the Exxon Logo. And if you don't know who he is, you can view some of his other logos and such here.
-33 Places to get Design Inspiration. Haven't gotten through all of these yet, and I already have accounts at some of them.
-Web Color Visualizer. This might come in handy.
-Check out Denis Darzacq's La Chute series
-Soccer Euro Shirts. These are pretty sweet, too bad they aren't for sell. And I've been a bit aggravated that I haven't been able to watch any of the Euro Cup....bummer.

The Control Master

-Exploring the Lost Art of the Film Poster. I definately feel like the movie industry needs to take note of this exhibit and try to spend a little more time with movie posters. They all look so awful. Anyways, you can view them more in detail over on the flickr. Planet of the Apes and The Birds are looking quite nice, among a others.
-Fixing old walls with Legos
-Mixtape USB Stick. Cool idea, but I'm not about to throw down $40 bucks for it. I'd rather figure something out on my own, if I'm going to spend money on a mixtape...

-The Control Master: A film by Veer & Run Wrake featuring CSA (stock) images
-I'm not a look-a-like! Photos taken of people that aren't twins, but have look-a-likes.
-Sorted Books Project. Via Mike
-Neat house created out of an old cold storage warehouse

TEES:
-Some neat Sci-Fi tees at Atomic Tarantula. I don't really get all the references, but theres some nice work in there.
-Dark Knight T-Shirts. I'm diggin some of these (like this one), but as of right now, they're not available. and from the looks of it, they might only be available in the UK, via French Connection, who has the Hulk shirts up. I'm digging the Smash! one.

Trailers:
-Curious Case of Benjamin Button Teaser Trailer. Seems quite interesting, and directed by David Fincher of Fight Club fame
-Miracle at St. Anna. Looks pretty intense.

Tuesday

First, watch this new ad for VW golf.

and later watch Bella, it was a rather good movie. I was a bit surprised. It's kind of a date movie, but watching it by myself in my room will suffice. Anyone else have any good movie recommends?

All Alright

-So much for my frequent/short posts. It seems to be hard to stay motivated enough to post every other day, but needless to say, I still keep the links saved.
-Also went and watched Son of Rambow yesterday. It wasn't quite what I had expected it to be. It ended up being more "cute" than quirky (which I was hoping for). The soundtrack bothered me as well. There were parts where I almost thought I was watching a Nickelodeon movie or something. but it was funny and the story wasn't too bad...I say it's definately worth a watch.

-This is all the rage this weekend on the blogs: Old printers, scanners and hard drives perform Radiohead's Nude
-Then and Now Movie Credits
-Grainedit: Inspiration from vintage kids & rare design books. Bookmarking that one.
-Cartype: Museum of Automobile Typography
-This is something Shannon would buy: Hot Dog Toaster
-Get an iMac stand for your iPhone

Not for Want of Trying

Hello Hello. What's everyone got going on June 21st? Just trying to put together a BBQ slash a little going away something for Shannon/Emily. Maybe I'll just start planning on it regardless..

-Airline Food Carts. I've been looking for these online for a while. I had seen something on them like last year. I'm not about to throwdown 1500 bucks for one though.
-Sign Language Matchbooks
-Handwrench
-Anybody want Tobia Funke's Bedroom set?
-I'm really digging these concepts for new Nestea can designs. especially the 3rd and 4th ones.

-Evolution of the Super Bowl Logo. They're all kind of bad though.....but it's football.
-How Internet Dating Really Works. I think I'm back to this now.
