And The List Continues...

Thought I would throw a visual comparison of OKC/Seattle, see what I have to look forward to. Mountain ranges and Ocean. Oh, sounds quite promising. And i was right, this week, is just dragging on. and on and on and on and on and on.

Links
-English Fail Blog. Some funny stuff in there, and maybe some not so appropriate for the family stuff. Either way, Funny.
-Harry Potter New Trailer. for all you Potter dorks.
-I hadn't seen this yet, but you can watch Presto. Pixar's short that apparently was played before Wall-E (which I haven't seen yet still).
-And the announcement of Objectified: A Documentary about Industrial Design, from the same folks that brought us Helvetica. I'm sure this will be good.

And I always forget to mention this, but everyone needs to bookmark the visual blog, Avantcore. It's mostly maintained by Mike and Clint. but I recommend a viewing.

Of Days

Off to a bit of a rocky start this week. We're kind of falling behind on a few things at work, and had to go in yesterday and work in the afternoon. But it was productive, so not a total waste. Does make the week drag on though. It's Tuesday for me, and still 4 more days this week, and I'm pretty sure our plate will be full the next couple weeks. With all that going on, I still have been slacking on my portfolio. I still can't figure out a way to properly display some of my pieces on a board (to allow it to be taken out and flipped though...) So much to do. It's come to the point, where I'm so overwhelmed, I don't know where to start...

-If there were no stop signs, and a major corporation was hiring to design a stop sign. Welcome to my World... Can we fit this in there? How bout this? How bout this?
-3D Exploration of Picasso's Guernica
-Mr. T Snickers Commercial
-20 Album Covers Recreated in Lego. Some of that execution isn't that great. The Pink Floyd one came out though.
-The Weiner Circle, clip from This American Life. I just stumbled upon this one. Basically a hot dog stand in Chicago, that at late hours, there becomes no rules between the customer and worker-basically, yelling profanities at each other.
-Wolverine: Origins leaked trailer from Comic Con, for all you nerds out there.

-James Biber Remakes Starbucks. Interesting concept. I'd almost like to see this go into action. Not totally sold on the *$ name, but I definately agree they need to get rid of selling products and stick with just coffee. That'd prob. make it a better.
-I'm digging these inspirational posters from Frank Chimero

On the sidenote, this heat is killing me, come on, 100s all week? Give me a break.

Is it Friday yet? and Why is July going by so fast?

Mike and I recently viewed the Adventures of Buckeroo Bonzai, which has to be the oddest 80s movie. Not really on my recommend list, but a must watch for 80s fanatics, I think. Plus John Lithgow plays some crazy guy that apparently his body has been taken over by a Lord from the 8th dimension....

This week hasn't really been going too smoothly for me. and if I'm grumpy and give you a pissed off look. That's why. I have about a billion and one things going on right now. all of which, I'm falling behind on all of them, so that's not helping. In other news, Mike and I have also starting packing away the house, and now it just looks like a giant mess, but progress is being made. More on his end than mine, but it'll get done.

-Viral Video of the Day: Font Conference-if fonts were people. Pretty hilarious, caters more to those PC users though. Them and their Kurls MT. I've actually deleted all those awful fonts from my system.
-If you haven't yet, check out the Watchman trailer. Looks promising. Here's a post bout the comparison with the comic...
-A few days late, but color palettes from old video manuals. After seeing this post, I realize I don't spend nearly enough time at Colorlovers.

Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts

Been digging out all of my old Ska CDs, so if there is an album anyone wants, let me know. and I'm pretty sure Mike and I are going to the Less Than Jake/Rancid show in Seattle early Sept. man, those bands are old. And I've been enjoying Venture Bros, a must watch for all other nerds out there.....

-Steve Schofield Photography. Check it. The Land of the Free series is great.
-Karate Kid Fan Documentary. A bit short, but a bit interesting to think how a karate movie influences others lives. and I was on the discussion of Karate Kid with Bear, and he referred me to this Vitamin Water commercial, which stars a cameo by none other than Ralph Macchio. What's the guy up to these days anyways?
-7 Movies based on True Stories that are BS. Mike and I just watched Victory the other day, and didn't know there was an actual story it was based on. And after reading about the true story, the movie version is no where close, especially when I called the fact that Pele was going to do a bicycle kick goal to tie it up.
-Beautiful Losers. "In the early 1990's, while most of the country was still reeling from the Reagan era, a loose-knit group of American artists develop a cultural movement influenced by the D.I.Y attitude and underground youth cultures of skateboarding, graffiti and punk rock."
Looks like a good watch
-This has to be one of my favorite blogs now: Unexpectedly Quit

Musaacks
-Radiohead House of Cards Video. They always seem to be pushing the envelope in some form or another....
-Bloc Party-Mercury. Song is better without the video(a bit too weird for my liking), and even still, is too repetitive.

Q: Issue One

I'm about two-four weeks late on this update, but Q: Issue one is out now. It is a collaborative zine I have been working on, along with a few contributors and Amy at my work. We've been a bit slow, but finally got the ball rolling. Details on purchasing an issue and/or information on Issue can be found at qcollaborative.com. Issues can also be bought directly though me. Just let me know.

Aphorisms

I apologize for the huge delay in entries. I'm not even sure what happened, but it seems like I've been somewhat stretched thin. The Fourth of July weekend was good, and some good times with the family, but only seemed to be the calm before the storm. I'll try to upload a few photos from the past weekend. There are a few funny ones, like me wearing suspenders at Dillard's for no good reason. So what's really going on over here? Well today I woke up not feeling very well, and apparently didn't get good sleep. Then i got to work and there was all this crap that needed to be done. and the printer at work hates me. Printer back story, Last Thursday, it wouldn't recognize the printer through our RIP so I was unsuccessful in even sending anything to the printer (after spending a couple hours trying to fix it...) and Today it decided it didn't want to print yellow. Thanks Epson 4880. and then my dentist called and told me I have an appt tomorrow. and i dont want to go tomorrow, but im going. And I need to call the landloard and the honda place and do my resume and my portfolio. More importantly get my physical portfolio and resume ready. I've been slowly trying to gather things up, but it's becoming harder and harder to get motivated...and I think I've had an off and on headache all day.

Five Things That Have Been Annoying Me
1. txt msgs-Yes, I do respond occasionally, but it seems bothers me. I hate 3 word conversations. Maybe the fact that my interaction and actual phone conversation is little to none, is another reason why it bothers me. Or the fact that most things can't be summed up in one sentence. Whatever suits you....
2. hype of my morning jacket-Really? They're not that good. get over it.
3. bluetooth headsets-enough said.
4. bad tatttoos-why does everyone and their mom think they have to have a tattoo? a bad one at that. and it seems like some places, (cough Irma's), it's almost mandatory to have an awful tattoo. I wish this fad would go away. I just remember when tattoos were associated with white trash, and it's what the cool kids have to have. That or a Fixie. Or both.
5. Bad Drivers! Every day I can't help myself but driving around and surround by people you apparently don't know how to drive. or what a 4 way stop is. And DON'T text and drive. Why isn't there some law against this? Some lady (one can only assume) in a white lexus came about 3 inches from my car the other night, and I can almost guarantee a phone was in her hand. Your phone conversation can wait five mins.

-Typeface Buttons. Via DesignMilk
-Oh yeah, went to El Ten Eleven last week. There was a grand total of probably 25 people. and you guys missed out. So next on my to buy list is two loop stations, then another 10 pedals. Like so.
-Old News. OKC gets a BBall Team. and apparently the players are pretty pissed about it. I would be too. Then I would remember that I play BASKETBALL for a living. geez.
